AMC Movie Church?

Yes folks, it's true. Melissa and I went to our local AMC 30 this morning, not to attend a movie, but rather to go to church. After today, i'll never look at going to the movies the same ever again. I never realized that every nook and cranny could be used as nursery or classroom, or that hallways made great high school meeting areas. I don't believe that I have ever seen such creative use of space in my life. We walked in, were welcomed right away and found our way to the Krispy Creme welcoming table. (Now that's church hospitality!) This was our first experience with "theatre church," but what a great opportunity for local church plants. The question we now have to ask ourselves..."Can we ever get used to church without a 60 foot projection screen?" Melissa and I really enjoyed our time worshipping with all of our new friends at Epic Church. Have you taken the time to branch out lately?

SERIOUSLY cool. Having that screen would be something else! Angie and I love visiting other churches as well - often when my Associate leads, we'll go see what others are doing. I love learning that way!

We have been to Epic church one and a half times now; Besides the Maryland church Epic has been one of our favorites. When we have been there the worhsip has been wonderful. (As well as the krispy kremes) glad you found it. Maybe we will see you there sometime. We went to Christ the King in Oxford this week. Larry and Veronica went as well as Dan and Heather Austin. It was fun.

Sounds cool! I think Willow Creek "the early years" met in a movie theater. CWC has thought about moving one of our venues to a local theater too...we'll see.

I didn't see an acoustic guitarist on stage in the photo...Hmmm. Churches are springing up all over the place aren't they? Everybody seems to want to do things "their" way in this culture. Don't like your church?...just start one. Well it's not unlike the inner city where you see a church on every other block (or you used to anyway). Dylan was right 'the times they are a changing'. It's not a bad thing. We still do and always will need to reach people creatively and where they are.
